Betsy White is a 27 year Rowlett resident, homeowner, wife and mother. She has dedicated over twenty years as a community leader, including her service as a licensed Law Enforcement Peace Officer and her volunteer service with the Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Rowlett CERT, Texas State Historical Association, East Texas State Historical Association, North Texas Boxer Rescue Foster, Texas PTA, Venture Crew, creating and leading Explorer Post 4125, Rowlett City Academy, Rowlett Citizens Fire Academy, and most recently Betsy has served on the Rowlett Parks and Recreation Advisory Board.
Betsy's love of service and community stems from her childhood days of sitting on the porch of the Gilbert House, watching her mother painstakingly restore it back to its former glory and work to preserve it by forming the Farmers Branch Historical Preservation and Restoration Society and the Farmers Branch Historical Park.
Betsy's deep appreciation for history, community, and the outdoors has shaped her public service from the beginning and that spirit will continue when she serves you on the Rowlett City Council.
Strong Public Safety to Lower Crime
As a former police officer, Betsy understands public safety is a priority that must never be comprised. She will work with our police and fire departments, including our 911 call operators, to ensure that they always have what they need to recruit and retain the best first responders, lower crime rates, and target resources to address public concerns.
Tax Relief and Responsible Spending
Betsy will respect the taxpayers dollars through strong fiscal management and advocate for efficiency in city services. She’ll demand accountability and transparency in the decision process and stand against special deals at the expense of residents. She’ll support expanding the homestead exemption and identifying responsible strategies to lower the property tax rate.
Update Our Infrastructure
Betsy strongly supports continuing the significant dedication and investments that Rowlett has made into repairing our crumbling roads and sidewalks. Betsy will prioritize furthering the city's preventative maintenance strategy to avert more costly construction projects that are disruptive and create traffic.
Clean Parks and Amenities
Betsy is a proponent of protecting Rowlett’s precious green spaces, which provide walkability and raise residents' quality of life. Betsy will support upgrading our parks and amenities to be clean and consistently maintained. Rowlett’s lakefront access is a unique feature of the city and Besty supports taking advantage of every opportunity to capitalize on the remaining lakefront space.
